Atlantic Dominion Solutions

For this installment of the ADS Podcast, I sat down with Greg Pederson, a freelance Rails developer here in Orlando, Florida. I thought that others might have the same business questions that he does and he was kind enough to allow me to record the conversation. If you have any business related questions you would like to ask please leave a comment or email me at rdempsey at techcfl dot com, and we will read the Q and A on the podcast.

Where is the ADS podcast?

By: Robert Dempsey | Tags:

I must apologize to everyone. I missed the last deadline for a release of the ADS Podcast, and for that I apologize. Things have been hectic around here as those of you that know me know. To give a little perspective, I just graduated from Rollins with a CS degree (I was on the extended plan) two weeks ago, I start my MBA on Friday (with a hectic five day long orientation), my wife is expecting our first child around the 13th (daughter Palamee), we hired Jon Cummins a few weeks ago and are bringing him up to speed, we launched ADS Mantis, I finished up my third article for the Amazon Developer Connection (coming soon), and then there were two holidays back to back, where I was fortunate enough to spend some time with my family. I have also been reading like crazy, moving the 200+ rss feeds I read to Google reader (quite simple actually - thank you Google), and of course have been trying to drum up more attendance for acts_as_conference, the two-day Rails conference we are holding here in Orlando February 8th and 9th. There are 100 tickets left. We have a superb lineup of speakers, and for $100, you can’t beat the value.

I promise to get back on track this weekend and release the next podcast this coming Monday. A big thank you goes out to the 6,254 people who downloaded the podcast in December. That makes it all worth while (and helps justify equipment cost to the boss ;). Any and all feedback on the podcast is welcome and appreciated, as well as topics you would like us to cover. Positive or negative, post your comments here. I won’t delete any of them (unless they are blatantly abusive).

You can also catch up with me online on LinkedIn, Twitter, Mixx, and Google.

ADS Podcast Stats

By: Robert Dempsey | Tags:

In order to keep our corporate site (run on rails), our blog (Wordpress), and our podcast feed (avmypodcast.com) running smoothly, we keep things on separate servers. This lead to our wondering of how our podcast is doing. After talking with the good folks at avmypodcast.com we are happy to have the following stats:

  • November - 2147 hits
  • December (until today - the 10th) - 1724 Hits

These numbers are pretty good and do not yet include the release of episode #4. I am glad to see that within 10 days we had almost as many hits as last month in total!

If you are a listener of our podcast and have any feedback or have any topics you would like to hear discussed, please post a comment and let us know. Thanks for listening!

In the fourth installment of the ADS Podcast we first discuss the forms of business to choose from, and then get into the four main types of agreements you need in order to do business. Grab a cup of coffee and take a listen. As always, please give us your feedback. If there are any business topics you would like us to cover please post those suggestions in the comments section as well.

A while back I had an idea to write a book on the business side of web development. Knowing how much I read on a daily basis (I monitor 350+ RSS feeds and read business/marketing/technology books and magazines), and after talking with friends who are writing books, I have decided to do a podcast. The ADS podcast will cover the business side of web development - from start to finish, interspersed with interviews of business owners. The equipment has been purchased, outlines are being written, and now we need your advice. Help us determine the proper length of our podcast by taking this short survey:
