In today’s update of expens’d, we’ve added expense approval for paid accounts, and updated the UI to make managing your account a bit easier.

<h2>Setting up Expense Approval</h2>

To set up expense approval log in, and click on the “Account” tab to the right of the expens’d logo. Once there, select the “Edit My Account” tab, check “Use expense approval,” and hit save. You’re now ready to go.

<h2>Approving and Rejecting Expenses</h2>

To approve or reject expenses log in, and click the “Expenses” tab to the right of the expens’d logo. Next, click on the “Approve Expenses” tab. You’ll see a list of unapproved and rejected expenses. To approve or reject expenses, use the drop down at the end of the row to update the status.

<h2>Filtering Unapproved Expenses</h2>

To quickly filter the expenses to be approved, click on the “Pending” or “Rejected” links.

Expens'd logo

It’s been one month to the day that we launched expens’d, our expense tracking and reporting tool. In celebration, I thought I would publish the stats:

  • 402 active accounts
  • 895 total expenses
  • 763682.18 in total currency tracked (10 currencies supported)

We’re very happy with the way things are going, and there is more to come. We are currently working on adding expense approval, followed by bills, and integration into the ADS AppSuite.

Keep up with the latest expens’d updated, here, on Twitter, or on our support site. If you are an expens’d user, or could be, and have any feature suggestions, let us know. We’re listening.

Prioritiz'd

We are happy to announce that prioritiz’d, our getting things done style task management app, has gone prime time. Bask in the productivity of an ultra simplified user experience. Jump effortlessly from context to context and project to project. Create your tasks in bulk, then drag-and-drop them from inside a project to prioritize them. And the best thing? Access prioritiz’d from anywhere you have web access.

Prioritiz’d is the second application in the ADS AppSuite. Soon it will be integrated with expens’d, and then scrum’d, once it’s released.

We plan to keep prioritiz’d FREE for everyone, so please, hop in and enjoy the productivity. If you’ve been using prioritiz’d since the Rails Rumble, you will find that all of your data in intact. Please keep using it as you have been. If you have any ideas on how we can make it better, let us know. We’re listening.

Attach a file to an expense on expens'd

Big thanks goes out to Stephen for asking us to add scanned copies of receipts to expenses. Stephen, we listened, and you got it! Users can now add a file to an expense for later viewing. How much storage you get depends on your plan. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Crowd - 10 GB
  • Group - 5 GB
  • Few - 1 GB

If you have a need for a feature in expens’d that you think others can benefit from as well, let us know. We’re listening.

expens'd report searching

With tonight’s site update you can now run an expense report by date range AND filter by tags. Log in to your expens’d account and try it out.

Thanks to Marty Martin for asking for this feature on our support site. If you have a feature you would like to see let us know. We’re listening.

Select your currency on expens'd

Expens’d has been up for a little more than a week now, so I decided to look at our stats and our analytics. Here are some stats as of the time of this post:

1,524 visitors from 62 countries
48% of traffic is from referring sites
96 accounts

I was surprised by the number of non-US visitors to the site, and the number of non-US visitors that signed up. While the largest number of our users are from the US, other countries represented include Mexico, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Philippines, Australia, and India, among others. I then realized that the currency symbol we were using throughout the application was the dollar sign. Does that help our non-dollar symbol using users? No, it doesn’t. We have now remedied that with tonight’s update. We’ve added currency support for the top 12 represented countries by expens’d users. If you are an expens’d user and don’t see yours listed, let us know and we’ll add it.

To select your currency, log in, click on the “Account” tab, select “Edit My Account,” select your currency, and save. That’s it. From now on all of your expenses and expense reports will show the correct currency symbol.

What else can we expect?

We have a number of features we’ll be adding in the coming weeks, including:

  • Exporting expenses to CSV
  • Exporting an expense report to PDF
  • Printable view of an expense report
  • Searching for expenses by tag, instead of or in addition to date
  • Running an expense report for multiple users

While that’s all well and good, and we can develop features that we’d like to use, we want to you what YOU want in the app. Let us know! We’re listening.
